This course trains people who work with children in schools and childcare settings to respond to emergencies. It includes CPR for adults, children, and infants, and the use of an AED. Participants learn to manage asthma, anaphylaxis, choking, bleeding, and injuries. Course Title: Provide First Aid in an education and care setting


Mode of Delivery: Online and Face to Face.The following units will be included in your certificate:


  1. HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  2. HLTAID010 – Provide basic emergency life support
  3. HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid
  4. HLTAID012 – Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting.


Duration: 3 hours of online pre-study and 1 hour practical face-to-face.


Assessment: Online videos & multiple choice exam Practical first aid & CPR demonstrations / skills assessments


Age Requirement: 13+


Certificate Validity:


  1. CPR Certificate will require renewal after 12 months.
  2. First Aid Certificate will require renewal after 36 months.
  3. Certificates will require renewal after 36 months.


Sydney ABC First Aid is partnered with Allens Training Pty Ltd (RTO 90909) which will issue a nationally recognised CPR, First Aid, Asthma, Anaphylaxis, Low Voltage Rescue (LVR) and First Aid in ESI Environment certificate.

HLTAID012 Child Care Setting Course Content


Our HLTAID012 Provide First Aid Course in an education and care setting will teach you all required skills, including CPR, Asthma, Anaphylaxis management and much more, so you become a qualified Childcare First Aid responder in your centre or pre-school.


Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all the requirements of the elements and performance criteria and include knowledge of:

  1. Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation CPR & Defibrillator (adult, child & infant)
  2. Provide Basic Emergency Life Support
  3. Fractures and dislocations
  4. Burns and scalds
  5. Head, chest and spinal injuries
  6. Fainting and unconsciousness
  7. Bandaging techniques
  8. Chocking
  9. Asthma management
  10. Anaphylaxis management
  11. Poisoning, bites, stings and much more!
